Staircase to the Moon 2017

This natural phenomenon is caused by the rising of a full moon reflecting off the exposed mudflats in Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide, to create a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching to the moon.

Australia Day

Lions Pioneer Park, Town Beach - Broome Combined Service Clubs Breakfast

Broome’s Lions, Lioness, Rotary Clubs and the Roebuck Lodge will again host the Australia Day Family Breakfast at Town Beach from 8-10am.

A cooked breakfast is $2 followed by an Australian Citizenship Ceremony, Community Citizen of the Year Awards and live music.

Shire of Broome Australia Day Fireworks & Family Fun Day

Town Beach and Lions Pioneer Park from 4pm. Bouncy castles, water slides, food vans and market stalls.

At 8pm the sky explodes over Roebuck Bay for a fantastic fireworks display simulcast with Spirit 102.9 Broome.


75th Anniversary of the WWII Air Raid on Broome

3 March 2017

Bedford Memorial Park

On the morning of 3 March 1942, nine Japanese Zero fighters and a reconnaissance plane swooped down over Broome, leading to the second-greatest wartime loss of life on Australian soil with 88 lives lost and 22 aircraft destroyed.



25 April 2017

The Anzac Day Dawn Service will be held at Bedford Park, located between Weld and Hamersley Street, Broome.

The RSL centre is located on the cnr of Robinson & Barker Street, Broome.
