70th Commermoration of the Attack on Broome

Bedford Park, followed by events at the Broome RSL.
The Shire of Broome is organising a public event to commemorate this date as a historical event in the nation's history and to recognise the significant loss three countries made in a time of war.
Relationships Exhibition

The Relationships Exhibition celebrates a social history of the Kimberley. Storyboards, artifacts, photographs and audio visual media give you an insight into the relationships formed by the Sisters of St John of God with the people of the Kimberley.

Kimberley memories through paintings and stories. 14 paintings were donated to the SSJG Heritage Centre by individuals and families. The Sisters re-exhibit the collection with stories from the artists, every 4-6 years.

Builders And Collectors
June 2012
An exhibition by ceramic artist Angela Bakker that explores the human impulse to build and to collect. Part of an ongoing series, 'Builders and Collectors' follows a previous exhibition, 'Nomads'. In these works the artist presents the consequences of a sedentary lifestyle and the urge to collect items not necessarily essential for survival. Highlights of the show include some landmark buildings of Broome. Exhibition runs 8 - 17 June 2012.

A world class Festival in one of Australia's most unique and spectacular towns, events include the waking of Sammy the Dragon, touching tributes to the towns Pearling History and Legends, a Float Parade through the historic streets of Chinatown, Mardi Gras concert and Food Festival, Carnival of Nations, Dragon Boat Races, Gala Ball, and an impressive closing ceremony concert culminating in a fireworks display over the town of Broome.

Staircase to the Moon 2012
This natural phenomenon is caused by the rising of a full moon reflecting off the exposed mudflats in Roebuck Bay at extremely low tide, to create a beautiful optical illusion of a staircase reaching to the moon.
